Phosphenes

"Phosphenes" is an art project that sheds light on the captivating and often overlooked phenomenon of closed-eye visual experiences. Replicating the mesmerising swirls of lights, vibrant colors, and enchanting geometric patterns reminiscent of seeing stars, this project aims to bring attention to the profound inner world we all possess but often disregard.

While these visual experiences can be breathtakingly beautiful, they can also evoke a sense of unease, particularly in certain circumstances like when a person gets up too quickly or coughs a little too hard. Drawing from personal encounters, including a vivid childhood memory of visual hallucinations induced by strong medication, the project acknowledges the dual nature of phosphenes, where both beauty and trepidation coexist.
